What is QMS?
What is QMS? ISO 9001 certification in Saudi Arabia is an international standard that defines the requirements for a quality management system. This is the best known approach to quality management systems. While some use the term “QMS” to describe the ISO 9001 standard or a group of documents describing QMS, it actually refers to system integrity. The document only serves to describe the system.
ISO 9001 certified focuses on a quality management system. In its simplest form, a quality management system is a set of principles or guidelines that help you measure the “quality” of various aspects of your business.
Defining the right way to provide your product or service to your customers is a collection of policies, processes, and documented procedures. I would almost compare it to a quality-control system for business processes.
A QMS will be unique to each company, specifically tailored to meet its goals and needs. Standard ISO 9001 certified sets out guidelines to help you plan and implement a successful management system (QMS).
The following four core elements or stages make up a QMS:
- Plan
- Do
- Check
- Act
Having a QMS will not automatically certify you as ISO 9001 compliant. Still, it is the foundation of the entire certification process.
The 9000 family of standards includes additional standards that help implement quality management systems, in addition to 9001:
- ISO 9000 defines the principles and terms on which ISO 9001 certified is founded,
- According to ISO 9004, you can improve the quality management system defined by 9001.

How to get ISO 9001 certification in Saudi Arabia?
It is necessary to set up a quality management system following the most recent ISO 9001 certified standard. Then it should be audited by a certified auditor.
Typically, certification lasts for three years, after which the organization is required to recertify.
There is no option for individuals to become Professional Certification Bodies (Registrars or CBS) to perform certification audits on behalf of other companies besides ISO 9001 certification.
How to get ISO 9001 Certification in Saudi Arabia? For organizations
Organizations can’t simply “join up” to ISO 9001 certified. That should be clear. Obtaining this certification requires completing a specific auditing process.
To become ISO 9001 certified, you must:
- The implementation of an ISO 9001 quality management system should be based on the latest ISO standards.
- To ensure that your QMS complies with the latest ISO 9001 standards, have an audit conducted by a Certified Body (CB) or Registrar.
- After three years (and every three years after that), the certificate will need to be recertified to ensure you are still up to date (and any new changes to the standard).
